Candidates for emigration were Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines in Southeast Asia, which is close to Japan. I had to make a careful plan because I had failed once.
After investigating prices, languages, and security conditions, I finally decided on the Philippines. The reason for choosing the Philippines
① Close to Japan (flight time and cost)
② Living cost are cheap
③ English is widely spoken
Among the candidate countries, it is the closest to Japan and it takes about 4 hours by plane, so even if something happens to my family, I can go home immediately. (Distance and time are very important. Based on my experience, when I was in USA, I could not see my grandfather last moment when he was passed away)
The other deciding factor was that I could speak English in the Philippines. Few of the countries I visited people could not speak English, so I thought it was a great advantage.
In addition, the Philippines has remarkable economic development, actively accepting foreign companies, agricultural products and minerals, etc. I found it attractive as an investment destination because of its abundant resources.
And just one and a half years after returning from Thailand, I decided to implement my second overseas migration plan.
After migration
As I said at the beginning, this is my 8th year living in the Philippines.
Now I had met a Filipino woman and become a dad with two children. I work at a Japanese company in Clark freeport zone.
I often hear that local hiring is tough, but it depends on the company. The current company is the second company in the Philippines, but the benefits and salary are surprisingly better compared to the companies I have worked before.
I'm glad I moved overseas now.
Off course, the reason I chose the Philippines as my migration destination was correct, but I finally concluded from advice from my father;
"(1) Create a mechanism to continue to increase money (with money) by turning the earned money into investment. And (2) investment profit + living abroad where prices are low ”
