When is Best month, how many days to travel to Japan

The number of tourists from the Philippines to Japan has increased year by year.

However Japan has been travel banned since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was lifted in June 2022 this year.

In this situation, Filipinos can travel to Japan more easily, but when is the best time to travel to Japan? Also, how long will you stay in Japan and how much budget do you need?

Therefore, this time, based on statistical data, I would like to explain the best travel month, length of days and how much budget is needed.

How many Filipino tourists travel to Japan?

Over the past 6 years, the number of Filipino tourists visiting Japan has continued to grow.

In 2014, the number of Filipino tourists visiting Japan was 184,204. According to country-by-country statistical data, the Philippines is the 8 largest number of foreign tourists visiting Japan after the United Kingdom and France.

What age of Filipinos travel to Japan?

Aged 20-39

42.4% of Filipinos visiting Japan are male and 57.6% are female. The most common age group for men is 30-39 years old, 13.73% of the total, followed by 20-29 years old with 11.1%, and the most common age group for women is 20-29 years old, accounting for 18.0% of the total.

From this data, we know that Japan is a popular tourist destination for relatively young Filipinos, and this is because probably Japanese anime, movies, and dramas are accepted by the young generation.

When is the best month to travel to Japan?

April and December

Over the past 6 years, April has been the month with the most tourist visits from the Philippines. Next is December, so I guess many Filipinos are traveling to Japan for the Holiweek and Christmas vacations unlike the number of tourists from other ASEAN countries tends to increase most from September to December.

I think this is a great time because April is the season for spring in Japan when cherry blossoms begin to bloom all over the country. In December also, snow is expected to fall, which is rare in the Philippines, and the illuminations during the Christmas season are world-famous.

By the way, if you are traveling from the Philippines to Japan in December, I fully recommend you bring a warm jacket, long sleeves, and boots because Japan is cold at the time. A few years ago, I got panicked on the airplane because I found myself wearing a T-shirt and sandals, and trying to go to Japan in the middle of winter. Hopefully, you would not get the same mistake as mine.

How many days is best to stay in Japan?

4-6 days

The maximum number of Filipinos staying in Japan is 4 to 6 days for both sightseeing/leisure and business purposes. After all, I think that this is staying in Japan during Holy Week or Christmas / New Year vacation.

Also, I think that this number of days is enough to visit popular tourist attractions in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto.

How much budget do you need for your trip to Japan?

Min. 100,000 yen

The amount of costs that Filipino travelers spend 126,567 yen in 2015 has been decreasing. It recovered to 121,921 yen in 2018 and after that, decreased again to 107,915 yen in 2019.

This data shows that if you stay for 4 to 6 days in Japan, you need at least 100,000 yen (=PHP. 39,720 as the exchange rate of October 2022).

However, the minimum amount varies depending on where you stay and what you do during your trip, and you must also consider exchange rate fluctuations.

What do Filipinos spend their money ?

shopping

When asked what Filipinos who came to Japan for sightseeing spent during their stay, the largest percentage was for shopping, at 33,070 yen. The second largest expense was accommodation, at 30,622 yen. You can see that spending on shopping, lodging, eating, and drinking is roughly evenly distributed.

The most popular item for Filipinos to shop in Japan is "Chocolates and snacks", with an average purchase of 7,275 yen per person. In order of purchase rate, followed by "clothes", "other foods/beverages/cigarettes", "shoes/bags/leather products", and "cosmetics/perfume".

The most popular shopping place is “convenience store” with 72.2%. This was followed by "department stores/department stores (53.9%)" and "supermarkets (50.1%)."

I think that Filipinos who shop in Japan spend the most money on sweets, probably for souvenirs(pasalubong).

Summary

The number of tourists visiting Japan from the Philippines is increasing year by year, and Japan seems to be a popular travel destination, especially among young people in their 20s and 30s.

Since many Filipinos visit Japan in April and December, many of them stay for 4 to 6 days during Holy Week and Christmas vacation, which costs about 100,000 to 120,000 yen. It seems that it is enough for the budget.

By all means, why not take a trip to Japan at the end of this year?
